Ducklings teach students about ecosystems

Second-grade students at TJ W have been fortunate enough to hatch chicks and ducklings for the last several years, giving them the opportunity to learn about different ecosystems and care for living creatures.

This ties in with the Next Gen standard of Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems. Between the ducklings, chicks, and the insects that students care for, students make observations of the animals and compare the diversity of life in different habitats. They also really enjoy watching the ducklings splashing in the water and getting to hold them and play with them.
