Student poems to be published

Recently, junior Annie-Belle Max Gross and senior Izai Martin, both at Tiger Ventures, were notified that their poems have been selected to be published in the Appelley Publishing’s “2021 Rising Stars Collection.” Both are now eligible for the $500 grand prize that will be announced on April 9.
Tiger Ventures English teacher Gavin Boehm said, “We are over the moon for these two and very excited about this recognition.”

Poem by Annie-Belle Max Gross
321, this week is almost done.
don’t wanna write no more
i just wanna have fun.
369, this world is mine
but y’all don’t care if it dies,
killing this world just to survive.
for this, I just have not the time.
no point in pulling punches
when your lies
have doomed this world to die.
Poem by Izai Martin
"An Amethyst Sky"
 An amethyst sky
fills my night
Stars dance
the same beat as your smile
They are an ocean
before a storm
whose moon burns honied-linings
against heavy clouds
across the tempestuous light
giving off the same beauty as you
I could watch forever
but lightning stains
your regal sky
I miss the way we danced
under the
blue moon
