February is heart-healthy month, which means a P.E. favorite; the heart-healthy obstacle course! At TJW, the gym was converted into an obstacle course that included chutes, rings, and scooters that represent the workings of the human heart.
Each station of the course represents a different part of the heart such as arteries, ventricles, and the aorta.
As part of the curriculum, students studied how the heart functions and how to take care of their hearts with exercise, healthy eating, and avoiding bad habits that can damage it.
Not only did the unit teach our students about being heart-healthy, but they were also able to participate in a fun exercise activity.
