Throughout the year, UEHS students in Andrea Folli’s PALS class learn about Black history and the African Americans who contributed to the betterment of the country. During the month of February, it is a more in-depth focus for Black History Month.
Each day, students learn about a different person who has contributed to the country in some way, including books and videos focusing on a historical figure.
Students also discuss the history of civil rights and equality for all. This year, students created a full-color poster that included specific African Americans as well as quotes representing inequality and the hope that they can "be the light" for change.
Students also included a place for others in the high school to write quotes that inspire them, how racism has impacted their lives and how they hope to be the change.
Thank you to Andrea Folli and her students for creating the poster and a place for students and staff to share their thoughts about this important topic.
