UEHS students in Brittany Sharpe’s Culinary Arts class got to experience their own chef competition!
The competition includes developing a restaurant or bakery, a menu, and one food item from that menu based on the theme of their class.
Each group of students worked for two weeks to create their restaurant. This included a name, its history, background, and uniform or outfits for staff. They also created a menu and chose the food item from that menu to be judged.
Students researched recipes and planned how they were going to create and serve their dish for judging. Three to five U-E staff served as judges for each period. The winning teams were chosen based on plating, the difficulty of the dish, taste, and delivery of information from the restaurant owners.
Congratulations to the below restaurant owners!
Period 2 (desserts) – “The DT Tavern” owned by Natalie Barrett, Dillon Farrell, Jaiden Williams, and Hattie Golebiewski, won with their Raspberry Truffle Brownies.
Period 5 (breakfast) – “Originals” owned by Mujaahid Conyers, Ja’Sigh Harris, and Conner Wilbur, won with Fried Chicken and Waffles with a Maple Glaze.
Period 8 (pastries) – “Foxy Mama’s” owned by Alena Nguyen, Rayon Blair, and Maddilyn Gardner, won with Spanish Style Crème Brule.
