In front of staff, coaches and student-athletes, Howard “Shorty” Bowen was informed of his upcoming induction into the Section IV Athletic Hall of Fame during a brief ceremony.
Nominated by U-E Athletic Director Teresa McKinney and spearheaded by Section IV Director Bill Bryant, Shorty’s nomination was accepted, and he will be honored at a dinner and induction ceremony in April. Bryant personally delivered Shorty's acceptance letter and spoke a few words about Shorty's dedication to U-E football.
For over 50 years, Shorty has been a volunteer for the U-E football program. From team manager, equipment inventory coordinator, practice set-up facilitator, and the one in charge of laundry and much more, Shorty has basically done about everything for the Tigers football program. In addition to his work with football, Shorty can also be found helping when U-E hosts sectional, regional, and state tournaments in all sports. Whether it’s preparing locker rooms, getting equipment on the fields, or assisting staff, Shorty is there lending a hand.
Congratulations on this well-deserved honor. #TigerPride #AlwaysaUETiger
