New York State Teachers' Retirement System

The NYS Teachers' Retirement System is one of the largest public retirement systems in the world.  If your employment with the district is full time, membership in the system is mandatory under the NYS Education Law and Retirement & Social Security Law.  District and employee contribution rates are also mandated.  Upon retirement, the pension you receive comes from the NYS Teachers' Retirement System.

  • To request an estimate of your retirement benefit: Ext. 6020
  • To schedule an appointment in Albany or at a video conference site: Ext. 6100
  • For questions about prior service: Ext. 6030
  • To request a loan application, or check the status of an application or a balance: Ext. 6250 For other questions about a loan: Ext. 6080
  • To withdraw your membership: Ext. 6090
  • To report an active member's death: Ext. 6110

New York State & Local Retirement System(Employees Retirement System/ERS)

Non-certified, full time district employees are required to join this retirement system under NYS Education Law and Retirement & Social Security Law.  District and employee contribution rates are also mandated.  Upon retirement, the pension you receive comes from the NYS ERS

  • Make an appointment to visit any of the Consultation Sites throughout the State where you can meet with an Information Representative to discuss your own retirement benefits;
