The Union-Endicott Swimming and Diving Team will be hosting Tiger Learn to Swim, a 5-week instructional program, to introduce boys and girls in grades 4-6 to the world of swimming. We will focus on learning the 4 major strokes freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly in addition to water safety. This program will be headed by the UE Boys & Girls Varsity Head Coach Doug Peters, with the help of the current Varsity Boys & Girls swimmers.
Who: Open to all boys and girls in 4th, 5th, 6th grade interested in learning how to swim.
When: Practice sessions will be offered Tuesday & Thursday, starting March 8th and ending on April 7th. Practice times will be from 6pm-6:45pm. If there are over 40 swimmers, we will split the group into 2 sessions and hold the second session from 7pm-7:45pm also on Tuesday and Thursday.
Where: UE High School Pool
What to bring: Appropriate bathing suit, goggles, towel, mask, and Ziploc bag.
Covid Policy: We will be following the requirements as directed by the Union Endicott School District. Masks are required in the buildings and on the pool deck by both swimmers and parents. Swimmers should bring a Ziploc bag with their names on them to store their masks while swimming. This will keep the masks dry, so they can put their masks back on after exiting the pool. Swimmers will not need to wear the masks in the pool. Those not following the Covid policy will be asked to leave the premises.
Cost: There will be a $25 fee per swimmer for the 5 week session (due on the first day). This fee will benefit the Union Endicott Swimming & Diving Booster Club, which helps buy equipment for the Union Endicott Boys & Girls Swim Teams. At the end of the session each swimmer will be given a Union Endicott Swimming & Diving T-shirt.
