Student remembered during dedication ceremony

The fifth-grade class at GFJ closed out the school year remembering a fellow classmate who is no longer with them.

During a dedication ceremony held outside the main entrance, Drew Pittarelli, who would’ve finished fifth grade this year, was remembered. Drew passed away last July.

The Pittarelli family, the fifth-grade class, current and former teachers, and the fifth-grade Boosters Club were in attendance as a beautiful Japanese maple was planted on the path that runs along the entrance. A new dedication stone with Drew’s name engraved on it was placed beneath the tree.

Principal Aaron Kaminsky, former principal Dr. Larry Dake, and former assistant principal Johanna Hickey spoke about Drew, his positive impact on all who knew him and the beautiful new tree.

Family friend Diane Breen and the boosters club provided the tree.
