Students fly paper airplanes
While learning about the Wright Brothers' first flight, students in kindergarten through fifth-grade at TJW also learned how to fly paper airplanes.
Students had been studying the Wright Brothers and the anniversary of their first flight. To tie in science and math as part of avionics, students went to the STEM lab to study surfaces, lift and steering. They created their own paper airplanes and then conducted test 'flights' to see how well they could fly.
More than 200 students from the following classes participated: Jennifer Savelli, Josh Donovick, Marianne Allen, Patty Doanes, Joanne Bettis, JonMichael Shea, Emily Rebello, Samantha Frieser, Catherine Schaffer, Amy Eggleston, and Eric Schrader.
