Project Lead the Way at TJW
TJW students in Joshua Donovick's fifth-grade class recently completed the Project Lead the Way course on robotics.
They began by exploring different types of robots and discussing what they learned and how to control the motors and different sensors. With that newly-learned information, students created a toy using the VEX kit pieces, learning how the pieces went together, and sharing this with the class.
Afterwards, students constructed a robot, tested how it worked, and then made necessary modifications to construct a robot that could complete a real-world scenario of retrieving items from a flooded nuclear power plant. A competition was held to see which robot could retrieve the most items while avoiding the water obstacles.
