JFS teacher published
JFS teacher Susan Thornton recently had her short story, "Border Crossing," published in the 2016 edition of “The Best American Mystery Stories.”
Thornton’s story was originally published in 2015 and is one of only 20 chosen for the 2016 volume of mystery fiction. This series is edited by Otto Penzler and this year, mystery author Elizabeth George was the guest editor.
The editors read more than 2,000 published stories in order to make their selection of the 20 stories for the published volume. Stories are selected yearly by the editors, who include Penzler and his assistants. He and his group chose 50 stories, which are then looked at by a different guest editor each year. That guest editor chooses the final 20 stories.
Thornton has taught at JFS for nine years. Her short stories and poems have been published in print and online in literary journals in the United States and the United Kingdom. She has also published a memoir, “On Broken Glass.”
