CFJ students write letters of support

CFJ students write letters. Shortly before school started, a major hurricane devastated Houston, Texas as Hurricane Harvey roared over the city.
CFJ third-grade students in John Ghosin-Szeliga's class wanted to find a way to offer their support, but how from so far away?

Through a website called “Principals Helping Principals”, he found a list of schools that were affected by the hurricane.

After some discussion, the class agreed that if they were in the same position, it would make them feel a little better if they received some words of encouragement. The students sat down and wrote letters and cards to students in Houston who were affected by Harvey.

Szeliga said, “I think it gave them a certain community feeling, and a feeling that they could do something to help, even if they lived so far away.”

Other classes participated and the letters will be sent out at the end of the week.
