Welcome back to our wonderful school! I am so proud of our students, staff, and parents for all we accomplished last year and will continue to do this year. Our sound instructional practices, doing whatever it takes to promote student engagement and high achievement, our first class PTA, and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program are just a few things that make us stand out above the rest.
Thank you for being your child's first advocate in ensuring that the school year goes well. Scheduling routines, getting to bed early, and proper nutrition can make our school day go smoothly. Ask about your child's day, check their agenda/homework folder, look for notices in their backpacks, and read with them each evening. Lastly PLEASE call me with any questions or concerns. Communication is important to me, and a conversation or visit will help your child the most.

Student Council Elections
Student Council elections were held on November 6, 2012 to coincide with our country's Election Day. Sixteen candidates ran for the different offices in the Student Council. Campaign Posters were posted around the school and speeches were given by each candidate to help fellow third to fifth grade students make an informed decision when voting. The election results were:
President - Alex Cass
Vice President - Dominic Guccia
Secretary - Derick Donnato
Treasurer - Isiah McMurray

Olweus Kick-Off
On October 26, the AGM Olweus Team (Gena Howard, Amy Winans, Carrie Potter, Chris Marinich, Corinne Inman, Kim Rockefeller, Lauralee Kephart, Lori Kosick, Lynn VanFossen, Melissa Zajdel, Michele Greco, Alicia Boyce, Tim Lowie) provided all students and staff with an assembly that included: videos, a read aloud, the rules banner unveiling, Billy the Bully skit, and information about how to be a defender and how to report bullying.
Our teachers and staff had been invited to dress as a defender in celebraton of our Olweus kickoff. Mrs. Elmore won our creativity award for her costume - Harriet Tubman - a famous defender! |

Rooftop Reading Rally
On October 2, Mr. Lowie and Mrs. Boyce went on the roof to keep their end of a deal!! In June, they challenged AGM students and staff to read over the summer. Keeping track of minutes on a calendar, everyone was determined to get them on the roof as part of the Summer Reading Rooftop Rally. Based on the book The Principal's on the Roof by Elizabeth Levy, the AGM principals had no idea what they bargained for!!
